Update from the UYC Board 8.4.20
You may be aware that several UYC members are quite poorly just now. We are thinking of them and their families. We pass on best wishes on behalf of us all and hope that they will respond positively to treatment and soon be back to full health.
Of course, the Club and site are shut down until further notice in line with government requirements. What follows are some of the actions that the Board is taking to deal with the current circumstances and in planning for when restrictions are lifted, hopefully to quickly enable more normal Club activities.
Edmund Clarke, Sailing Manager and Mark Humphries, Facilities Manager have been fully supportive of the Club taking up the Government Coronovirus Job Retention Scheme or 'furloughing' and this was implemented from 1 April. As we value our loyal employees and wish to resume as normal activities as soon as we can, the Club is supplementing this government grant.
Members should be aware that government rules whilst employees are on furlough prevent them generating money or providing services. Any contact or requests that members would normally make to Edmund or Mark during this time should be made to a Board Member or Club Official.
A team is being set up to produce a recovery action plan so that the Club can swiftly resume normal service as far as is possible when circumstances permit.
Some fees for winter storage and 2019 trailer storage had not been included in previous invoices. Separate invoices from the lists provided and will be sent by email. Where appropriate, the invoice will include the £10 charge for paying by monthly instalments.
Do please check these invoices and let me know if you did not use any of the services itemised. Similarly, if you believe you have previously paid for an item, please log in to the website and check your previous invoices and payments. As always, if there is something that is not right, let me know and I will correct it.
If you are already paying or have paid your subscription by direct debit, perhaps in monthly instalments, please note that any additional invoice will normally be paid by a single, additional direct debit. I have not consolidated any additional payments into the monthly instalments because:
It gives you an opportunity to point out any error.
It is a complicated process to roll back and rebuild invoices and I want to avoid doing this unnecessarily
If, however, you would prefer to have any addition invoices consolidated into your monthly instalments plan, please let me know and I will do this.
The Board is very grateful the great job Sue Giles is doing in keeping Members and the wider sailing community informed through the website and social media.
Best wishes to you all and stay safe.
