Reopening now Saturday, June 6
Published 20:33 on 27 May 2020
The Directors have been working hard to reopen the club and we are delighted to announce that we can now open on Saturday, June 6. New risk assessments to ensure we operate the site and water-based activities safely, without rescue cover, must be read by members and complied with. It will be a condition of use of the club that you agree to the new arrangements. These Risk Assessments will be available on the club website shortly under the members only section. A summary list of Do's and Don'ts will be sent to you this week.
Our two managers are being released from furlough from June 1 and they will lead with the Club reopening subcommittee on all actions, including the revised layout of the site and safe arrangements both on the water and on site.
In response to requests from members we are introducing leisure sailing on a Monday and Friday from June 8, site available 8.00am until 6.00pm. At other times the club site will be closed and locked. Similarly, members have expressed negative views regarding a booking system and we will not be introducing one. We do, however, need to know how many members will be attending the site in the first two weeks and you will be sent an email form asking you to complete and respond to with the dates you are intending to visit the club. (first two weeks only) This will provide us with an indication of the volume of members planning to visit and their requirements. We will then be better placed to organise the appropriate marshals and facilities.
Car parking and dinghy storage/launching arrangements will be different, please follow appropriate signage. It is essential compliance with social distancing for yourself and accompanied children is adhered to. Portable toilets are available with appropriate cleaning facilities.
The cruisers will be arranged on site depending on their launching plans and their need to be worked on. These will be placed so that members can work on them and maintain social distancing. The club organised launching will commence from June 8 and June 15 and we will help any members who want to launch their own cruisers, by prior arrangement with the Facilities Manager.
We have contacted all local stakeholders to advise them of our intentions and to avoid any misunderstandings. Be advised the Steamers and Outward Bound are not operating and local shops/camp sites etc. are closed.
The Directors are mindful of the support we are receiving from our membership and are looking forward to June 6 to kick start our season and have the use of our facility whilst we enter Phases 2 and 3 and get the club back to full use. If you have any queries or can offer us help please contact uyccommodore@gmail.com
Your cooperation is essential to ensure everyone's safety both on and off the water. Please find below a calendar of activities during June. This will be reviewed in the light of our experience and response to government guidance. We will continue to keep you informed by regular updates and via the website.
