Less than a month to go until the 64th Lord Birkett Memorial Trophy, excitement is building again.

This year's event sold out several weeks ago - the earliest sell-out in Birkett history. A phenomenal achievement for UYC and a testament to the reputation, popularity and enduring appeal of what is widely regarded as the Holy Grail of inland sailing.

Over recent weeks we've received a number of enquiries from members and visitors asking about previous Birkett winners, records and the rich history behind this iconic race. We're therefore delighted to share this new Lord Birkett Memorial Trophy Roll of Honour, which will soon take pride of place in the clubhouse as part of our growing collection of Birkett heritage displays. The board celebrates every winner from the inaugural event in 1963 through to 2025, recognising the sailors, classes and clubs that have helped shape one of Britain's most iconic sailing events.

As we prepare to welcome over 200 boats back to Ullswater, it's a fitting reminder that today's competitors are becoming part of a story that stretches back more than six decades - a story made possible by generations of volunteers, members, competitors and supporters.

Whether you've raced in one Birkett or fifty, we'd love to hear your memories
