The Spring Training session, the second of a series of four Saturday mornings in June, was for youngsters aged from eight with the aim of teaching them to sail or to improve their skills. They were joined by two adult club members who are newcomers to sailing.

"The club training is run by volunteer RYA instructors, most of them have gone through club training themselves and some have children of their own on the course. The fact they are giving their time freely helps the club to keep the costs down," explained Edmund Clarke, Sailing Development Officer, who runs the club's Ullswater Sailing School.

The youngsters were split into four groups, with their own qualified instructor in charge and they took part in a range of activities for two hours on land and on the water, despite the weather conditions, and still had smiles on their faces.
