62nd Lord Birkett Memorial Trophy

Ullswater Yacht Club’s biggest event of the year, the iconic long-distance Lord Birkett Memorial Trophy, sponsored by Magic Marine, is on July 6 & 7, 2024.
The quest for the ‘Holy Grail’ of a Birkett win attracts keen sailors from national champions to novices in a huge range of different boats. More than just a race, it has become a festival of sailing, popular with racers from all over the country.

Welcome to Ullswater Yacht Club

If you want to learn to sail, improve your racing or simply want to cruise Cumbria’s ‘loveliest of lakes’, UYC offers an unrivalled scenic location and a very warm welcome.
We are a friendly, family-orientated club welcoming anyone with an interest in sailing. Whether it’s an introduction to sailing, RYA training, or competitive racing you’re after, we have it all.
Perhaps some days you don’t want to sail or members of the family want to do something different. Beautiful fells surround our club, with good access for walking and mountain biking.
We have a busy club programme with something for everyone, run national sailing events, an annual sail camp for youngsters, have junior fleets, there’s a super kitchen and bar facilities, we could go on…

One thing that the pandemic has done is made people appreciate the great outdoors. So if you are considering learning a new outdoor sport that is ideal for all the family, where you can camp on site and take advantage of the expert tuition and great clubhouse and its facilities, UYC is the perfect choice.

Ullswater Yacht Club offers such a wide range of facilities not only the great sailing and teaching but so much more. Our membership covers people of all ages and abilities and offers a great opportunity to meet like-minded families/individuals who may decide to sail during the day then go mountain biking on the fell behind the club. Learn to Sail with Ullswater Sailing School

As part of Ullswater Yacht Club, Ullswater Sailing School offers a full range of courses and taster sessions to suit all ages and experiences – whether you are a complete novice, an occasional sailor or an accomplished racer who wishes to polish your skills. We are a Royal Yachting Association Accredited Training Centre offering various courses provided by RYA qualified instructors. We have a superb fleet of training boats to suit all ages and experience levels, including single handers and double handers. There are great clubhouse facilities, including changing rooms, and ample parking. As well as sailing courses, we offer RYA accredited instructor courses throughout the year including Dinghy Instructor assessments, as well as powerboat and RYA first aid courses.

Daffodil Regatta, 27 & 28 April 2024

This year’s Daffodil Regatta is sponsored by Magic Marine and Triggernaut Sunglasses who are offering all entrants 15% discounts on their products.

The event will include the Musto Skiff Northern Champs. and RS 200 Northern Champs. as well as class racing for VX Ones and OK’s and all class handicap starts for other dinghies, keelboats and cruisers.
